Dear Patient,

Thanks for contacting the Medical Marijuana Caregivers of Maine. We would like to assist you in your search for a Physician in Maine that is willing to make the medical marijuana recommendation to qualified patients. I am attaching the following pieces of information to help you:

Doctors list (we are constantly updating this list, if you find a doctor not on the list please let us know so that we may add them, and any other feedback about this list is appreciated)

*note: when calling these offices DO NOT ask for a medical marijuana recc. over the phone. In some cases the receptionist is unaware that the physician is making the recc. and not all of the doctors that are making recommendations have come forward publicly to support medical marijuana- decisions about your care are a private matter to be discussed between you and the medical professional that you are making an appointment to see.

Physician's Certification Form , this is the form you should bring to your appointment for the doctor to sign and send in to DHHS. Be sure your health condition is considered permissible for the recommendation and bring all relevant paperwork from previous health issues.

*note: depression and anxiety are not currently qualifying conditions in Maine.

If approaching your own primary care physician, let them know that you currently use marijuana as medicine and it works for you, and ask them to check in with the Maine Medical Association or Maine Osteopathic Association if they have any questions or concerns. THIS IS NOW LEGAL, it's just that many of them don't know or are unsure.

State Registration forms and instructions- Registering with the state requires a patient to commit to a particular venue for acquiring their medicine (caregiver, dispensary, home grower). We can help you find a caregiver once you have your recommendation, and can advise you through the process.
